Leona R. Anderson, age 91 of Amana, formerly of East Amana, Iowa, died Saturday, March 1, 2014 at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids. Funeral Services: 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, March 5, 2014, Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo with Elder Peter Hoehnle officiating. Burial will be in the East Amana Cemetery. Visitation will be after 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, March 5, 2014 at the funeral home, prior to the service.
She is survived by her son Ron and wife Mary Anne of Cedar Rapids; two grandchildren, Jeff Anderson (Julie) of Cedar Rapids, and Jennifer Floyd (Greg) of Kinston, NC; and two great grandsons, Everett and Anderson Floyd of Kinston.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Christopher in 1999, a granddaughter, Julie, three sisters, Edna Lippman, Viola Unkel and Louise Neumann, and six brothers, Henry, William, Ernest, Herbert, Walter, and Norman Bahndorf.
Leona Ruth Bahndorf was born December 16, 1922 in East Amana, Iowa, the daughter of Carl and Frances Vanous Bahndorf. She received her education in the Amana schools and married Christopher Anderson on February 19, 1941 in Marengo, Iowa. Besides being a wife, and mother, Leona worked for many years at Amana Refrigeration on the assembly line. In later years Leona enjoyed watching her daily soap operas and game shows and doing the circle-a-word books. She especially enjoyed getting pictures of her great-grandsons and visiting with them on the webcam.
The family thanks the caring nurses and doctors in the ICU at Mercy Medical Center, for the attention and care given to Leona.
