Laurence Roland Bine, age 81 of Marengo, died Monday, June 29, 2015 at Mercy Hospital, Iowa City. The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 P.M. Thursday, July 2, 2015 at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo. Private Memorial Services will be held at a later date. Inurnment: Koszta Cemetery, rural Marengo. Memorials may be contributed to the Iowa State Church of God Conference.
Laurence is survived by his children, Laurie Madoerin (Dennis O’Donnell) of Marengo, Diane Shawver (Dave) of West Branch, and Daniel Bine (Theresa) of Marengo; seven grandchildren, Shelby Dains (Brad), Sarah Madoerin, Jacob Madoerin, Logan Bine, Amelia Shawver, Jessica Bine and Matthew Shawver; and three great-grandchildren Kaylin, Avery and Stella Dains. Also surviving is a brother Arthur (Louise) Bine of Beaman. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Sandra in 2009, a son Jeffrey, and a brother Paul.
Laurence Roland Bine was born June 23, 1934 in Beaman, Iowa, the son of Wesley Bein and Aura Bute Bein. He graduated from Beaman High School and then attended DeVry Technical institute in Chicago, receiving his certification in electronics. Laurence served his country with the U.S. Army for two years. He married Sandra Reinhard on June 17, 1956 in Gladbrook, Iowa. Laurence worked for Collins Radio in Cedar Rapids until 1972, then he moved to Marengo and farmed until his retirement in 1979. He filled his time driving school bus, and traveling with Sandra. Laurence enjoyed playing cards, camping, boating, target shooting, and long discussions on politics and religion.
