Darlene Evelyn (Schropp) Byrn, age 78, of Conroy, passed away Monday, November 7, 2016. Funeral service: 10:30 a.m., Friday, November 11, 2016, at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo, Iowa, with Rev. James Parks officiating. Burial: Oxford Cemetery, Oxford, Iowa. Visitation: 3 to 7 p.m., Thursday, November 10, 2016, at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
Darlene is survived by her husband Francis of 56 years; a daughter Mary (Andy) Adams of Conroy; a son Rick (Dianne) Byrn of Williamsburg; four grandchildren Bonnie (Chris) Tibai of Michigan, Bradley (Lacey) Ivy II of Chelsea, Marcus (Brenda) Adams of Kansas City, Kansas and Danielle Byrn of Williamsburg; two great-grandchildren Misty Adams of Conroy and Lilly Adams of Michigan; four step great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; four sisters Beverly, Carol Ann, Peggy and Marilyn; and four brothers Eugene, Tom, Jim and John. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers Ronnie and Donnie; a sister Mary Lou; and an infant daughter Rhonda Sue.
Darlene Schropp was born August 25, 1938, in Oxford, the daughter of Clarence and Margaret Klein Schropp. She graduated from the Oxford High School in 1958. Darlene married Francis Byrn on September 10, 1960, in Alburnett. She was employed at Owens Brush and Proctor and Gamble in Iowa City, and later was a cook at the Ox Yoke Inn, in Amana, for 21 years. She enjoyed baking, cooking, cross-stitch and puzzle books. Most of all, Darlene loved spending time with her family.
