Sondra Kaye Chapman, age 52 of Brooklyn, died suddenly on Thursday, November 27, 2014 at the Grinnell Regional Medical Center, Grinnell. Memorial Service: 11:30 A.M. Wednesday, December 3, 2014, Grace United Methodist Church, Brooklyn with Pastor Bill Wilkerson officiating. The family will receive friends after 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, December 3, 2014 at the church. Memorials may be contributed to "Make A Wish" Foundation. Kloster Funeral Home, Brooklyn is assisting the family with arrangements.
Sondra is survived by her mother LaVonne Chapman of Brooklyn; four sisters Ellen Chapman of Brooklyn and Dori Harvey (Dave) of Mediapolis, Jessie Armstrong of Texas and Sherry Chapman of Newton ; six nieces Megan Chapman, Melissa Harvey Aubrey Bothwell, Billie Armstrong, Ina Armstrong, and Micky Lust; four nephews Matthew Harvey, Brian Chapman, Monte Lust and Richard Armstrong. She was preceded in death by her father Allen Chapman and a niece Brenda Chapman.
Sondra Kaye Chapman was born October 12, 1962 in Newton, Iowa, the daughter of Allen and LaVonne Chapman. She graduated from BGM High School, Brooklyn in 1981 and attended college in Tulsa, Oklahoma and received her associate degree from Kirkwood College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Sondra worked as a medical records data technician. She was employed by Kaiser Permanente for 20 years. She traveled through 30 states during her employment with Kaiser. Sondra was a member of the Brooklyn Ruritans, and served as their secretary. She was a member of TOPS in Newton and Weight Watchers. Sondra also was a member of Faith Christian Church in Montezuma.
She loved her computer work, and if she wasn’t working she enjoyed spending time with her nieces and nephews.
