Harold W. Durr, age 86 of Huntington, Indiana, formerly of Williamsburg, IA died Sunday, January 24, 2010 at his home in Huntington, IN. Funeral Services: 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, January 26, 2010, Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo with Rev. Katie Dawson officiating.  Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery, Williamsburg, Iowa.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 P.M. until service time on Tuesday, January 26 at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo. Memorials may be contributed to the First United Methodist Church, Marengo.

He is survived by his son Brian Durr of Goshen, IN; his daughter Debbie Burton and husband Delbert of Huntington, IN; three grandchildren, Derek Burton of Fort Wayne, IN, Dana and Daniel Burton of Huntington, IN; a brother, Ronald Durr of Solon, IA and a sister Helen King of Bullhead City, AZ. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Colleen in 2008, two sisters, Arlene Zuber and Eleanor Barnes and a brother Russell Durr.

Harold Walter Durr was born June 24, 1923 in Williamsburg, Iowa, the son of Walter and Lottie Lyons Durr. He graduated from Williamsburg High School in 1942 and served four years in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He received the Purple Heart for service to his country. Harold married Colleen E. Houghkirk on May 18, 1951 at the Methodist Church in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Harold worked in logistics as a tech writer. He began his career as a county clerk for Iowa County, then went on to be employed at Collins Radio, Linkhurt Electric, Amherst Electronics, Amana Refrigeration, Memcor E Systems and Magnavox. He was a past member of the Iburg-Poulson VFW Post #8797.
