Howard Frimml, age 95, of Marengo, passed away peacefully at the Marengo Memorial Hospital on Tuesday, November 22, 2016. Funeral Service: 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, November 29, 2016, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church with Fr. David Wilkening officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Marengo. Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m., Monday, November 28, 2016, at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo with a Scripture Service at 7 p.m. A memorial fund has been established.
Howard is survived by two sons Dennis (Debra Strasser) of South Amana and Steven of Nampa, Idaho; a daughter Cynthia Schmidt of Ankeny; five grandchildren Kimberly (Corey) Roberts of Williamsburg, Amber (Jason) Augustine of Ankeny, Richard Frimml of Caldwell, Idaho, Erica (Brian) VanThournout of Hartwick and Branden (Rachelle) Strasser of Williamsburg; and 13 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Phyllis in 2004, three brothers George, Lawrence and Martin, a sister Marcella Kimm and a grandson Shon Houdek.
Howard Bernard Frimml was born February 3, 1921, in rural Marengo, the son of George and Eva Beckler Frimml. Howard married Phyllis Hunzelman January 15, 1942. Together they farmed in the South Amana area for 47 years. He raised colts in his younger days. He loved riding his mules, coon hunting with his dogs and deer hunting. Most of all, Howard loved his family. He looked forward to the outings and car rides with his children, and especially spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren
Howard was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Marengo and the Ladora Saddle Club.
