Karen E. Grimm, age 68 of Apache Junction, AZ, formerly of rural Deep River, died Tuesday, March 1, 2011 in Arizona. Memorial Services: 10:00 A.M. Friday, March 11, 2011, Deep River Community Center, 701 Main Street, Deep River, IA. with Shirley Van Dee officiating. Visitation: 4 to 7 P.M. Thursday, March 10, 2011 at the Deep River Community Center. Inurnment will be at a later date. A memorial fund has been established.
She is survived by her husband Kenneth; a son Todd Grimm (Sara) of North English; two daughters Nicole Sue Hartman (James) of Montezuma and Lauri Guzman (David) of Fresno, CA; thirteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; a brother Darlo Kelting (Diana) of Grinnell and a sister Lanette Crow (Lyle) of Oxford. She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter Kristi Neil, two brothers, Arlen “Buck” Kelting and Garth Kelting, a brother-in- law, Dean Wright, and a sister-in-law, Norma Kelting.
Karen Erlene Kelting was born March 5, 1942 in Williamsburg, Iowa, the daughter of Harold and Eleanor Newkirk Kelting. She received her education in the local Lutheran schools and graduated from Williamsburg High School in 1960. Karen married Kenneth Grimm on June 7, 1973 in Las Vegas, NV. Karen was a beautician in Deep River and Millersburg for 30 years. The couple also owned and operated the Livingroom Greenhouse in Deep River. In 1990, they moved to Arizona, where Karen worked with Allstate Insurance until 2000.
Karen was an awesome wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed floral arranging for weddings, bowling, playing cards and socializing with her friends. Karen was an avid sports fan and followed the Iowa Hawkeyes, Phoenix Suns, Diamondbacks and the Chicago Cubs. She also was a member and past president of the Millersburg JayCettes. |
