Ina Gail Hadenfeldt, age 94 of Marengo, died Tuesday, October 21, 2014 at her home. Funeral Service: 10:30 A.M. Friday, October 24, 2014, First United Methodist Church, Marengo, with Rev. Matt German officiating. Burial will be in the Marengo Cemetery. Visitation: 4 to 6 P.M. Thursday, October 23, 2014, at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo.
Gail is survived by two sons, Jerry (Shirley) of Clive, and John of East Prairie, MO; two daughters, Janet Gardner (Dale) of Marion, and Judy Button (Denny) of Waverly; eleven grandchildren, and fourteen great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband LeRoy in 1975, and two brothers, J. and Dean Stockton.
Ina Gail Stockton was born November 8, 1919 in Leroy, Iowa, the daughter of Harold and Mae Bahr Stockton. She received her education in the country schools, and graduated from Marengo High School. After completing her education, Gail was a teacher in the country schools for several years. She married LeRoy Hadenfeldt on March 9, 1940. Besides being a wife, mother, and homemaker, she was bookkeeper for the Standard Oil Bulk Tank Service that LeRoy operated.
Gail was a member of First United Methodist Church in Marengo, the Marengo Legion Auxiliary and the Order of the Eastern Star. She served her community, working at the voting stations during election times. She also was a chaperone for women prisoners during transfers from one facility to another.
Gail also enjoyed her free time. She and LeRoy loved to go dancing. She was an avid Hawkeye fan, attending many games with her friends. She looked forward to “Bunco” nights, and especially spending time with the family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
