Conrad Lee “Connie” Hahn, age 91 of Marengo, died Wednesday, August 24, 2016 at St. Luke’s Hospital, Cedar Rapids, IA. Funeral Services: 10:30 A.M. Monday, August 29, 2016 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Marengo with Rev. Andrew Gray officiating. Burial will be in the Marengo Cemetery. Visitation: 4 to 7 P.M. Sunday, August 28, 2016 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Marengo. A memorial fund has been established. Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo is assisting the family with arrangements.
Connie is survived by his wife, Ruth; two sons, Ned of Anchorage, Alaska, and Marty (Tara) of New Prague, MN; a daughter Joni (Leon) Heitman of Cedar Rapids, seven grandchildren Annette Fugitt, Danielle Bowman, Christine Homan, Bridger Hahn, Karly Hahn, Kent Heitman, and Abby Heitman; and nine great-grandchildren. Also surviving is a sister Beverly Roggentien of Marengo. He was preceded in death by his parents, and an infant brother.
Conrad Lee Hahn was born February 1, 1925 in North English, IA, the son of Clarence Hahn and Jessie Cheney Hahn. He attended the North English schools and graduated from Marengo High School in 1942. Connie and Ruth Schumacher were married October 7, 1950 at Ruth’s parents’ home. He was employed at Swift and Company for a time, and then became a meter reader for Iowa Electric Light and Power for 37 years. He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, the Marengo Fish and Game Club, and the Isaac Walton League. He was an avid Chicago Cubs fan, and enjoyed bowling and fishing. Most of all he cherished his time spent with his family.
