Melvin “Butch” Healey, age 62 of Marengo, died at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics on Sunday, December 27, 2009.  Funeral Services: 10:00 A.M. Saturday, January 2, 2010, First United Methodist Church, Marengo with Rev. Dianne Buswell officiating.  Burial will be in Koszta Cemetery, rural Marengo.  Friends may call from 2 to 8 P.M. Friday, January 1, 2010 at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo. A memorial fund has been established.

Butch is survived by his loving wife of almost 44 years, Connie; two sons: Rob (Gail) Healey and Denny (Suzie) Healey both of Marengo; and six grandchildren: Stephanie, Katelin, Drake, Dylan, Andrea, and Delaney Healey.  He is also survived by his four sisters: Linda (Dennis) Walter of Farmington, MN, Becky (Gary) Hagen of Marengo, Lois Ann Shaver and Debbie (Tim) Seckar both of Newton; his brother, Kevin (Carol) Healey of Victor; his aunt, Rachel Stotelmyre of Marengo; many nieces and nephews; and grandpa’s pal, “Buddy”.

Butch was preceded in death by his father in 1991, his mother in 1962, his father-in-law George W. Myers in 2000, and his mother-in-law Marguerite Myers in 2009.

Melvin Frederick Healey was born June 21, 1947 in Victor, Iowa, the son of Melvin L. and Lois Buswell Healey.  He attended Saint John’s Catholic and HLV schools both in Victor.  He married Connie Myers on January 8, 1966 at Saint Patrick’s Catholic Church in Marengo.  From 1967 to 1988 he worked for Myers’ 66 on Highway 6 in South Amana.  In 1988 he purchased the business and renamed it Butch’s Repair and Towing.  In 2004, he sold the business to his son Denny and the business was renamed D&S Repair.  From 2007 to present he worked for Iowa County Transportation.

Butch enjoyed going to tractor pulls to watch Denny pull with “Ambush”, watching Nathan race, talking to his son Rob on the phone in the evenings, wood working, participating in car shows, and attending as many of the grandchildren’s activities as possible.
