Dorothy Mae Heisdorffer, age 88, of Marengo, died Sunday, April 10, 2016, at Rose Haven Nursing Home. Funeral services: 10:30 a.m., Thursday, April 14, 2016 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Marengo with Rev. Andrew Gray officiating. Burial: Marengo Cemetery. Visitation: 4 to 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, April 13, 2016, at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo, Iowa. A memorial fund has been established.
Dorothy is survived by her sons, Douglas (Robyn) Heisdorffer, Marengo and David (Sara) Heisdorffer, Walford; six grandchildren, Nicholas, of Marengo, Kaitlyn, of North Liberty, Alex, Chelsey, Aiden and Carley all of Walford; a nephew Jim Anderson; and a niece Beth Snyder.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Robert and a sister Maurine Anderson.
Dorothy Mae Yoerks was born September 7, 1927, in Ottumwa, the daughter of Robert and Anna Bennett Yoerks. She graduated from Ottumwa High School in 1945. She married Robert Lee Heisdorffer on September 8, 1961, in Ottumwa. Dorothy was employed at Northwestern Bell for 6 years, Union Bank and Trust for 9 years, Iowa County Courthouse, treasurer’s office for 3 years and Peterson’s Pharmacy for 12 years. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church for 50 years, sang in the church choir for 20 years and was a part of the Evening Circle. Dorothy volunteered for the Red Cross Blood Drive for 18 years. She was an avid Chicago Cubs and Iowa Hawkeyes fan, enjoyed bingo, going to the casino and loved spending time with the kids and grandkids and attending their events.
