Floyd W. “Bill” Hollopeter, age 83, died Saturday, November 5, 2016 in Belle Plaine. Funeral Service: 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, November 9, 2016, Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo, with Rev. Cindi McKee officiating. Burial will be in the Ohio Cemetery, rural Ladora, with military honors. Visitation: 4 to 7 P.M. Tuesday, November 8, 2016 at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo. A memorial fund has been established.
Floyd is survived by his children, David Hollopeter of Ladora; Rick Hollopeter of Ladora, Kevin Hollopeter (Dee) of Cedar Rapids, and Marlyce Folkmann (Daren) of Marengo; three grandchildren, Angela Schnebbe (Joshua) of Victor, Doug Folkmann (Lisa) of Ladora and Micheal Folkmann of Marengo; and a great-grandchild, Mallory Jo Folkmann of Ladora.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Mardean, four brothers, Lawrence, Charles, Dean and Frank, and sisters Hazel, Mary and Betty.
Floyd William Hollopeter was born April 1, 1933 in Ladora, Iowa, the son of Charles Oscar and Laura Ida Slaymaker Hollopeter. He graduated from Ladora High School in 1951 and served in the U.S. Army from 1954 -56. Floyd and Mardean Mae Hupfeld were married August 28, 1959. The couple farmed for many years in the Ladora area.
Floyd was a man who loved his profession. The farm was his favorite pastime. He also enjoyed cutting wood, and making things for his family and friends.
