Marvin S. Klein, age 87 of Brooklyn, Iowa, died Wednesday, April 29, 2015 at the Grinnell Regional Medical Center, Grinnell. Funeral Services: 10:30 A.M. Saturday, May 2, 2015, Grace United Methodist Church, Brooklyn, with Rev. John Dodds officiating. Burial will be in the Brooklyn Memorial Cemetery with military honors. Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, May 1, 2015, Kloster Funeral Home, Brooklyn. Memorials may be contributed to the East Poweshiek Ambulance Service, Grace United Methodist Church, or the Malcom VFW Post 733.
Marvin is survived by his wife Carol; his children, Darrell (Nancy) of Brooklyn, David (Sue) of Bowie, MD, Terraleen Stern (Bill) of Indianola, and Mike (Julie) of Brooklyn; ten grandchildren, Cassandra Hilton (Brannon), Lesli Kramer (Joe), Brett Stern, Alicia Klein, Matt Klein (Lisa), James Klein (Alicia), Trent Klein (Kari), Crystal Klein, Kristen Klein, and Curtis Klein; and nine great-grandchildren. Also surviving are sibling, Doris Shaffer of Reinbeck, Ivan Klein of Montezuma, and Eileen Maxwell of Jacksonville, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a grandson, Christopher Klein, a sister Marjorie Youkey, and two brothers, Ronald and Christian “Gene” Klein.
Marvin Share Klein was born June 29, 1927 in Ladora, Iowa, the son of Christian and Effie Share Klein. He graduated from Ladora High School and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He married Carol Hall on October 5, 1951 at the Madison Church of Christ, rural Brooklyn. The couple farmed for many years in Poweshiek and Mahaska Counties. He was a member of the Malcom VFW and Grace United Methodist Church.
