Dale E. Krakow, age 69 of Marengo, died Sunday, September 4, 2011 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City. Funeral Services: 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, September 7, 2011, Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo with Rev. Katie Z. Dawson officiating. Burial will be in the Oxford Cemetery, Oxford, Iowa. Visitation: 4 to 7 P.M. Tuesday, September 6, 2011 at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established.

Dale is survived by his wife Carol; two sons, Scott Krakow (Ann) of Parnell, and Steve Krakow of Marengo; a daughter Leanne Brecht (Ron) of Marengo; ten grandchildren, Brittany, Monica, Brice, Lucas, Jacob, Katie, Blake, Kacey, John, and Andy; twelve great-grandchildren, Korbyn, Taylie, Karter, Gavin, Brayden, Ty, Colton, Wyatt, Spencer, Sierra, Faith and Paige; four brothers, George (Dorothy), Elmer (Naomi), Wayne (Else) all of Marengo, and Clarence (Kathy) of Belle Plaine; and a sister Lilly Schmutz of Muscatine. Also surviving are two stepsons, Chris and Curtis Roggentien.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Carl, two sisters, Betty and Emma, and a grandson Trent.

Dale Edward Krakow was born September 8, 1941 in Iowa City, Iowa, the son of Ernest and Anne Kahler Krakow. He attended the rural Iowa County, Oak Grove School and graduated from Marengo High School in 1959. Dale married Nancy Fiser in 1961. The couple later divorced.  He married Carol Shaull on September 14, 1991 in Sigourney. He was employed as a plumber.

Dale was a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, husband and friend. He enjoyed being surrounded by his family and friends. He loved fishing, boating and spending as much time as possible at his cabin at the river. He always said it was where he wanted to live someday. He was often seen driving around town in his golf cart with his buddy Whiskey in the back.
