Neoma Pearl Lacy, age 90, of Vinton, Iowa, formerly of Williamsburg, died Friday, May 2, 2014 at the Vinton Lutheran Home in Vinton, Iowa. Graveside Services: 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, May 6, 2014, at the North English Cemetery, North English, Iowa. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be directed to the Vinton Lutheran Home in her memory. Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo is assisting the family with arrangements.
Neoma is survived by her daughters, Jeannene Ann Lacy of Hiawatha and Patricia Ann Lacy of Vinton; six grandchildren, Christene Dietz (Jerry) of Cedar Rapids, Amy Jo Stephenson (Kris), Caitlin Loney, Destiny Loney, Breanna Loney and Austin Douglas, all of Vinton; and her sister Marie Faas (Mel) of Lincoln, NE. Also surviving are a brother-in-law, Larry Lacy (Nancy) and a sister-in-law, Mildred Lacy, all of Cedar Rapids. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Lloyd in 2009, and three sisters Nadine Gardner, Elma Smith, and Ethel Jennings.
Neoma was born December 2, 1923 in Williamsburg, Iowa, the daughter of Lonzo Augustus Rogers and Ada Jane Shelton Rogers. She attended the Gehry School in English Township, and married Lloyd Melvin Lacy on December 13, 1941 at the Ohio Methodist Parsonage in rural Ladora, Iowa. Besides being a homemaker, wife, and mother, Neoma worked for Nash Finch in Cedar Rapids for eleven years, and as an office clerk at Kinze Manufacturing, rural Williamsburg for 20 years, retiring in 2002. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, puzzles and flea markets. She especially loved her family and will be greatly missed by all that knew her.
