On July 4th, 2014 Dale E. Lenton of Beaver Dam, Wisconsin, formerly of Marengo, Iowa passed gently into the hands of Jesus in the care and comfort of Hospice Home of Hope in Fond du Lac.

Dale was born on July 24th, 1923 in Blairstown, Iowa to Clarence and Helen Lenton nee Dickinson.  Dale proudly served our country in the U.S. Army as a Prisoner of War guard and as a Radar Technician from June 25th, 1945 to December 7th, 1946 and he had been a member of the Blairstown American Legion for over 50 years.

Dale married Dorothy Wilkermeyer on August 20th, 1951 in Cheyenne, Wyoming.  Dorothy and Dale had a wonderful life for 42 years.  They were both employed at Le Febure’s in Cedar Rapids until they retired in 1985.  Following retirement Dale and Dorothy traveled extensively in their RV and enjoying each other’s company.

Dale remained in Iowa for four years following Dorothy’s death.  He then moved to Wisconsin to join the life of Doris Bender, nee Wood, also formerly of Blairstown.  Dale and Doris were inseparable for the next 17 plus years.  Doris and Dale also traveled until health and age intervened.

Dale was “Dad” to Sandy Weier, Deb (Rick) Gempeler, and Suzie (Doug) Fishbaugher and “Grandpa” to Gloria (Don) Linke, Kevin (Jenny) Weier, Ed (Jamie) Tetzlaff, Carrie (Jon) Tetzlaff, Heath (Janelle) Fishbaugher, Holly (Dave) Belongia and Heide (Mike) Belongia, and 18 great-grandchildren.

Dale was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Dorothy, brothers Daniel, Wilbur, Gerald and William, sister Hilda Brecht, and great-niece, Kaitlyn Mumm.

Dale is survived by his “buddy” Doris Bender, sister, Charlotte Brecht, sister-in-law, Julia Lenton, and many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.

It brought Dale great joy toward the end of his journey that his Iowa family traveled to Wisconsin to see him.  Special thanks to Charlotte, Debra (John) Hadenfeldt and Jennifer, Ashlyn, and Noah Hadenfeldt.    Noah and Ashlyn put a smile on his face that will last through eternity.

Funeral services will be at 11:30 A.M. Tuesday, July 8, 2014, at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo with Rev. Diane Miller officiating.  Burial with military honors will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Blairstown, Iowa. The family will receive friends after 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, at the funeral home.
