Dorothy K. Martinson, age 84 of Williamsburg, died Sunday evening, April 14, 2013 at Colonial Manor of Amana. Funeral Services: 10:30 A.M. Thursday, April 18, 2013, St. John’s Lutheran Church, Homestead, with Rev. Terry Small officiating. Burial will be in East York Cemetery, Williamsburg. Visitation: 4 to 7 P.M. Wednesday, April 17, 2013 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Homestead. A memorial fund has been established. Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo is in charge of arrangements.
Dorothy is survived by her son Duane of Williamsburg; her daughter Doris Kinsinger and husband Ed of Parnell; ten grandchildren, Tricia Schutterle (Wayne) of Norway, Tonya Grambo (Rick) of Minot, ND, Rachel Trimpe of West Amana, Shawn Martinson of Williamsburg, Corey Martinson of Williamsburg, Nick Martinson (Steph) of Ely, Vince Martinson (Niki) of Williamsburg, Jared Kinsinger of Wellman, Candra Nickell (James) of Wellman and Gabe Kinsinger of North Liberty; and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Robert in 2011, a son Dale in 1982, a brother Clifford Vogt, and a sister, Ethel Stanerson.
Dorothy Katherine Ann Vogt was born November 3, 1928 in rural Homestead, Iowa, the daughter of Edward A. and Rose Kuhnle Vogt. She attended St. John’s Lutheran School, Homestead, and graduated from Marengo High School in 1946. Following graduation, Dorothy worked at the Homestead Sandwich Shop. She married Robert O. Martinson on April 8, 1948 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Homestead. Besides being a homemaker, wife and mother, Dorothy was a pie and roll baker for over seventeen years for the Colony Village Restaurant. Dorothy loved gardening and her flowers, especially her African violets. She enjoyed watching sports, especially the Cubs and Hawkeyes.
Dorothy was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Homestead.
