Robert O. Martinson, age 83 of Williamsburg, died Friday, December 2, 2011 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Funeral Services will be 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, December 6, 2011 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Homestead, Iowa with Rev. Terry Small officiating.  Burial will be in East York Cemetery, rural Williamsburg. The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 P.M. Monday, December 5, 2011 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Homestead.   A memorial fund has been established.  Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo is in charge of arrangements.

Robert is survived by his wife Dorothy; his son Duane of Williamsburg; his daughter Doris Kinsinger and husband Ed of Parnell; ten grandchildren, Tricia Schutterle (Wayne) of Norway, Tonya Grambo (Rick) of Minot, ND, Rachel Trimpe (Rod) of West Amana, Shawn Martinson of Iowa City, Corey Martinson (Trisha) of Williamsburg, Nick Martinson of Ely, Vince Martinson (Niki) of Williamsburg, Jared Kinsinger (Stephanie) of Wellman, Candra Nickell (James) of Wellman and Gabe Kinsinger of North Liberty; and eleven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son Dale in 1982, and three brothers, Raymond, Alfred and Ralph Martinson.

Robert Martinson was born June 23, 1928 in York Township, Iowa County, Iowa, the son of Leonard and Bertha Witte Martinson. He attended the Iowa County schools and married Dorothy Vogt on April 8, 1948 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Homestead.  The couple farmed for many years.  Robert also drove the school bus and worked for the Iowa County Secondary Road Department.  He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Homestead.
