Neal S. Nesselroad, age 59, of West Des Moines, Iowa, died Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at his home. Memorial Services: 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at the First Presbyterian Church, Brooklyn, Iowa, with Rev. John Reynolds Jr. officiating. Inurnment: Brooklyn Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m., Monday, May 30, 2016, at Kloster Funeral Home, Brooklyn, Iowa. Neal is survived by his daughters Rachel and Brooke, and close friend Robin Cheek, all of Ankeny; a sister Nancee (Jon) Cook of Decorah; a niece Emily (Kevin) Smith; three nephews Peter and Joe Wykhuis and Grant Cook. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Nicole Wykhuis.
Neal Nesselroad was born October 13, 1956, in Grinnell, Iowa, the son of Lyle and Barbara Sherwood Nesselroad. He graduated from BGM High School, Brooklyn in 1975, and attended UNI. While there, he worked at Niederhauser Airways in Cedar Falls servicing airplanes and began working on his pilot ratings. He moved to Des Moines in 1985 to fly for Des Moines Flying Service. In 1987 he was hired as a corporate pilot with Principal Financial Group in Des Moines where he flew for more than 20 years, retiring in 2013. Neal enjoyed his motorcycles, cars, golf, flying, Green Bay Packers and the Iowa Hawkeyes.
