Helen W. Niner, age 92 of Marengo, died Wednesday, March 13, 2013 at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids, IA. Funeral Services: 10:00 A.M. Monday, March 18, 2013 at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo. Burial will be in the Ladora Cemetery. Visitation: 3 to 5 P.M. Sunday, March 17, 2013 at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established.
Helen is survived by her sister Eileen Machen of Marion, and five nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Carroll, and a brother Duane.
Helen Winifred Cooperider was born March 7, 1921 in rural Marengo, Iowa, the daughter of David and Lola E. Hoyt Cooperider. She received her early education in the Iowa County schools and graduated from Marengo High School in 1939. Helen was employed as a telephone operator for many years. She married Carroll L. Niner on February 5, 1965 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. He passed away in 1975. Helen was a lifelong resident of Iowa County, a member of the First United Methodist Church in Marengo, the United Methodist Women, the Happy Homemakers Club, and the “Over 60” Club. She was a beloved sister, aunt and friend to many. She will be missed by her family and friends.
