Mary Violet Padula, age 76 of Amana, died peacefully Friday October 23, 2009 at Keystone Cedars Assisted Living in Cedar Rapids following an extended illness.  Funeral Services 11:00 A.M. Monday, October 26, 2009 Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo with Rev. David Mosher officiating.  Burial will be in Amana Cemetery, Amana, Iowa. 

Mary is survived by her children, Judy Haynes of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Bud Dreier of Amana, Iowa, and Sharon Bavin of California; seven grandchildren, Brian Haynes, Benjamin Haynes, Elizabeth Haynes, Andrea Haynes, Christopher Dreier, Holly Hastings, and Amanda Bavin; and nine great grandchildren.  Also surviving is her sister, Ruth (Leo) Thompson of Waterloo, Iowa.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Jimmy Petalous, her daughter Karen Dreier, and her grand-daughter Jennifer Bavin.

Mary Violet Petalous was born August 30, 1933 in Waterloo, Iowa, the daughter of James and Josephine Petalous.  She received her education in the Waterloo schools. She owned and operated a variety of businesses in the Amana Colonies for the past 20 years.
