Russell C. Price, age 85, of Brooklyn, died Wednesday, September 21, 2011 at the Belle Plaine Nursing and Rehab Center, Belle Plaine. Mass of Christian Burial: 10:00 A.M. Saturday, September 24, 2011, St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Brooklyn with Fr. Brian Shepley officiating. Burial will be in Calvary
Cemetery, Victor, with military honors conducted by the Victor American Legion Post 54. Visitation: 4 to 7 P.M. Friday, September 23, 2011 at Kloster Funeral Home, Brooklyn with a Scripture Service at 7 PM. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.

Russell is survived by his wife Yvonne; and two sisters, Margaret Merck of Victor and Esther De Decker of Blythe, CA. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and four sisters, Trudy Coburn, Mildred Roudabush, Elsie Peterson and Velma Faas.

Russell Charles Price was born December 12, 1925 in rural Victor, Iowa, the son of Charles and Hazel Gleason Price. He received an honorary diploma from Victor High School and served in the U.S. Navy from 1942 to 1947. Russell married Yvonne Van Gampeleare on June 11, 1947. The couple moved to Oregon for a few months. When they returned Russell farmed for over 30 years in the Hartwick and Brooklyn area. He did carpentry work for 20 years, and also built their home.

Russell was a 60-year member of the Victor American Legion Post 54, a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Brooklyn, and served on the Brooklyn Library Board. He enjoyed fishing and hunting and bird watching.
