Wallace James Roth, age 83 of Hartwick, Iowa, died Thursday, October 13, 2011 at Brooklyn Community Estate. Mass of Christian Burial: 5:00 P.M. Sunday, October 16, 2011, St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Brooklyn with Fr. Brian Shepley officiating.  The family will receive friends from 2 to 5 P.M. Sunday at the church.  Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery at 8:00 A.M. Monday, October 17, 2011. A memorial fund has been established.  Kloster Funeral Home, Brooklyn is in charge of arrangements.

Wally is survived by his wife Betty; a daughter Nancy DeBrower (Dean); two sons Jim (Jeanne) and Tim (Marilyn); grandchildren Shallee Williams (Howard), Shalen DeBrower (Nikki), Shane DeBrower (Libby), Claire Fazio (Ron), David Roth, Emily Roth, Barbara Roth (Scott Beck), Kent Roth, Faith Chandler (Jessie); and ten great grandchildren.

Also surviving are sisters Kay Ostrom, Vivian Himschoot, Maxine Roberts (Cecil), Elmira Bevins (Kenny), and Shirley Bloome; a brother Kenneth Roth (Donna); a brother-in-law, Lou Bees and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Edward.

Wallace James Roth was born February 15, 1928 in rural Hartwick, Iowa, the son of Fritz and Gertrude Dee Roth. He graduated from Hartwick High School with the class of 1946. He farmed in the Hartwick area for his entire life. Wally married Betty Bees on November 22, 1948 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Brooklyn. He was a member of the Hartwick Fire Department for 55 years and also was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Brooklyn.
