Ryan Scott Rotter, age 45 of High Amana, died Monday, August 29, 2011 at his home. Funeral Services: 10:00 A.M. Friday, September 2, 2011, Middle Amana Community Church, Middle Amana with Elder Jon Childers officiating. Burial will be in the Amana Cemetery with military honors. Visitation: 4 to 8 P.M. Thursday, September 1, 2011 at the Middle Amana Church. A memorial fund has been established. Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo is in charge of arrangements.
Ryan is survived by his wife Shannon; his children Christopher and Parker at home, Kyle of Kuwait, Rebecca Nemitz of Virginia and Brett of South Portland, Maine; and two grandchildren. Also surviving are his parents Russell and Phyllis Rotter of Amana; his brother Rob Rotter of Williamsburg; and several uncles, aunts, a niece and nephew, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents.
Ryan Scott Rotter was born May 18, 1966 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Russell and Phyllis Leichsenring Rotter. He graduated from Amana High School in 1984. Ryan served in the U.S. Coast Guard for 10 years, as part of the search and rescue teams and drug enforcement. After his discharge from the military, Ryan worked for TMC Trucking, and the Amana Furniture Shop. After receiving his certification in environmental management from Kirkwood College in Cedar Rapids, he worked for the Benton County Conservation Commission. Ryan married Shannon Winegarden on January 29, 2001 in Marengo. Ryan loved old Farmall tractors, and the outdoors. He enjoyed sports, gardening, and barbequeing. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with Chris and Parker and attending their sporting events.
