Nan Vang, age 73 of Marengo, died Sunday, January 31, 2016 at St. Luke’s Hospital, Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Funeral Service: 1 P.M. Friday, February 5, 2016, First United Methodist Church, Marengo with Rev. Matt German officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Memorial Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. Visitation: 4 to 8 P.M. Thursday, February 4, 2016, at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo. A memorial fund has been established.
Nan is survived by her husband Ying of Marengo; her children, Feuang Kavanh (Mine) of Marengo, Theuang Vang of Fort Worth, TX, Thing Vongvilay (Savany) of Marengo, Bouaphanh Sayachak (Jack) of Euless, TX, Phairot Hoang of Joliet, IL, Angie Luong (Anthony) of West Des Moines, Sengdao Vanlo (Por) of Iowa City, Vinai Vang (Jennifer) of Solon, and Lokhoy Brecht (Joel) of Altoona; 17 grandchildren, and 1 great-grandchild. Also surviving are four brothers, Xieng Quang and Chim Quang of Cedar Rapids, London Quang of Arkansas, and Pan Quang of Cedar Rapids; and a sister May Sivanthaphanith of Muscatine.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and a son Tim Vang in 2010.
Nan Quang was born March 6, 1942 in Vietnam, the daughter of Dua and Eun Quang. She married Ying Vang in 1958. The couple came to the United States in 1982, settling in Marengo. Nan loved to garden and spend time with her grandchildren.
