Helen Marie Wilson, age 90 of Brooklyn, died Tuesday, March 29, 2011 at Brooklyn Community Estate, Brooklyn, IA. Visitation: 1:30 to 2:30 P.M. Saturday, April 2, 2011 with the funeral services at 2:30 P.M. at Kloster Funeral Home, Brooklyn. Dennis Smith will officiate. Burial will be in the Brooklyn Memorial Cemetery. Memorials may be contributed to the Madison Church of Christ, rural Brooklyn.
She is survived by her children, Kenneth Wilson of Marshalltown, Barbara Wilson of Brooklyn and Steven Wilson (Barbara) of Port Royal, PA; three grandchildren, Kurt Wilson (Michelle) of Lima, OH, Kara Koester (Jason) of Grinnell, and David Wilson of Elizabethtown, PA; four great-grandchildren, Peyton, Keegan and Kenley Wilson and Jase Koester. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1954, an infant daughter Beverly Ann, three brothers, Eldon, William and Marion Miller, and four sisters, Esther Miller, Irma Talbott, Janet Miller and Jean Heathman.
Helen Marie Miller was born April 29, 1920 in Bear Creek Township, Poweshiek County, Iowa, the daughter of Jesse and Alice Hall Miller. She attended the Sigafoose Country School and received her diploma and normal training certificate from Brooklyn High School in 1937. She married Charles Wilson on February 15, 1941 at the Madison Church Parsonage. Helen enjoyed cooking, outdoor activities and spending time with her family and grandchildren. She enjoyed Hawkeye football and basketball and would listen daily to WHO Radio. |
