Corey Jay Yardley age 26 of Victor, formerly of Marengo, died Monday, July 20, 2015 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Funeral Service: 10:00 A.M. Thursday, July 23, 2015, Iowa Valley High School Auditorium, Marengo, Iowa, with Rev. Matt German officiating. Burial will be in the Marengo Cemetery. Visitation: 4 to 7 P.M. Wednesday, July 22, 2015 at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be contributed to the Special Olympics or the Marengo Recreation Commission in Corey’s honor.
Corey is survived by his mother and step-father, Wendy and Jamie Claeys of Victor; his brothers, Cullen Yardley of Victor, and Trent Claeys (Samantha Voy) of Cedar Rapids; his sister, Kaela Claeys of Altoona; his grandparents, Ron and Audrey Yardley of Marengo, Ron and Sherry Dietze of Marengo, and David Claeys (Linda Kuba) of Victor. He was preceded in death by his father, Chad Dietze, his uncle Tracy Dietze and his grandmother Linda Claeys.
Corey Jay Yardley was born September 18, 1988 in Cedar Rapids, the son of Chad Dietze and Wendy Yardley. He graduated from Iowa Valley High School with the Class of 2007 and attended Kirkwood Community College for 2 years. Corey enjoyed working with special needs people. He was a talented retail salesman. He was a coach and umpire for the MRC program in Marengo, and had a passion for the Special Olympics. He was an avid Cubs, Hawkeyes and Bulls fan.
