Emma A. Albert, age 101, of Amana, died Monday, February 14, 2011 at Colonial Manor of Amana in Amana.  Funeral Services: 10:00 A.M. Thursday, February 17, 2011, Middle Amana Community Church with Elder Harold Pitz officiating.  Burial will be in the Amana Cemetery. Visitation: 4 to 7 P.M. Wednesday, February 16, 2011 at the Middle Amana Community Church. Memorials may be contributed to the Amana Church Society. Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo is in charge of arrangements.

Emma is survived by a son-in-law, Lester Davis (Sue) of Johnston; five grandchildren, Kim Davis of Sioux City, Tracy Davis (Carmen Kealey) of Coralville, Terry Davis (Brenda) of Oxford, Julie Kotz of Des Moines and Jon Albert of Cedar Rapids; six great-grandchildren, Ryan Stille (Kristy) of Omaha, Nick Stille (Katie) of Omaha, Katie Stille of Sioux City, Conor Davis of Sioux City, Logan Davis of Oxford and Emma Davis of Oxford. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Paul Albert in 1963, a son Carl Albert, a daughter Carolyn Davis, and two sisters, Emily Roemig and Elsie Mattes.

Emma Alice Oesterle was born March 16, 1909 in Amana, Iowa, the daughter of Charles and Elise Clemens Oesterle. She attended the Amana Schools and married Paul Albert on December 5, 1929 in Amana. Besides being a homemaker, Emma worked in the Amana communal kitchens and the Sandstone Winery. Following the loss of her husband and daughter early in their lives, Emma raised her grandchildren. She especially loved caring for them and her great grandchildren. She enjoyed canning, crocheting and knitting, but her happiest moments were those spent in her garden. Emma had a strong faith and was an active member of the Amana Church Society. She also belonged to the Amana Heritage Society.
