Elmer R. Anderson, age 56 of Brooklyn, died Tuesday, October 4, 2011.  Memorial Services: 10:30 A.M. Friday, October 7, 2011, First Presbyterian Church, Brooklyn with Rev. John Reynolds, Jr. officiating.  Inurnment will be in the Brooklyn Memorial Cemetery. Visitation: 4 to 8 P.M. Thursday, October 6, 2011 at the First Presbyterian Church, Brooklyn. Memorials may be contributed to the ALS Association of Iowa. Kloster Funeral Home, Brooklyn is assisting with arrangements.

He is survived by his wife Joyce: his three children Heather Kohnen (Terrence) of Tiffin, Jessica Harken (Ivan) of Grinnell and Kaleb Anderson of Brooklyn; three grandchildren Hayden and Ethan Kohnen and Avery Marie Harken; his mother Betty Marie Hanus Anderson of Toledo, Iowa; two brothers, Andy Anderson (Pam) of Watauga, TX, Chris Anderson (Karen) of Dallas, Iowa; and a sister Lou Olson (LeRoy) of Toledo, Iowa. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father Wilbur Ray Anderson; and father and mother in law, Melvin and Teresa Kriegel.

Elmer Ray Anderson was born December 30, 1954 in Grinnell, Iowa the son of Wilbur and Betty Hanus Anderson. He graduated from BGM Schools in Brooklyn with the class of 1974 and married Joyce Kriegel on June 8, 1974 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Brooklyn. Elmer was a dispatcher for Manatt’s Inc. for over 30 years. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Brooklyn.

Elmer enjoyed riding his BMW motorcycles, target shooting, and antique construction equipment. He was an avid bird watcher. Above all, Elmer loved spending time with his family.
