Archie Roy Bair, age 80 of Brooklyn, died Monday, September 21, 2009 at the Grinnell Regional Medical Center following a brief illness. Funeral Service: 10:30 A.M. Friday, September 25, 2009, Kloster Funeral Home, Brooklyn with Fr. Brian Shepley officiating.Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Brooklyn, IA. Visitation: 4 to 7 P.M. Thursday, September 24, 2009 at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley; two daughters, Deb Morton (Jim) of Victor and LeeAnn Current (Jerry) of New Sharon; a son David (Maria) of San Antonio, TX; 8 grandchildren, Amy Blankenship of Victor, Loren Morton of Zearing, John Urfer of Mount Pleasant, Robert Stanek also of Mt. Pleasant, Kristina Raney of New Sharon, and Darcy, Wendy and Cindy Bair, all of San Antonio, TX.; and 5 great-grandchildren, Shawn Blankenship, Justine, R.J., Rhianna, and Jacob Raney. He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter Barbara Jean in infancy, two sisters, Naomi Bair and Katherine Avard and a brother Edward Bair.
Archie Roy Bair was born November 28, 1928 in Ladora, Iowa, the son of Roy Everett and Anna Marie Leitzman Bair. He attended Victor High School and married Shirley Wilcox on February 19, 1955 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Brooklyn. Archie served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was employed as a farm hand on area farms and also worked at KSKB Radio Station. Archie enjoyed playing cards, bingo, long walks and reading. He was a Hawkeye and Nascar fan. He was a hard worker and loved his farm animals. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. |
