Virginia I. Benscoter, age 82, of Waterloo, formerly of Marengo, died Sunday, April 12, 2009 at Country View Care Center, Waterloo, Iowa. Private Family services will be held at a later date. Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo is in charge of arrangements.

She is survived by her children, Joy McCune of Albert Lea, MN, Susie K. Hartz (Darrell) of Marengo, Greg Benscoter of Marshalltown, Stratton “Whitey" Benscoter (Crystal) of Marengo and Kim Hemm (Ron) of Washington; 12 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild. Also surviving is a sister Sandy Thorne of Davenport and a good friend Sydney Gleeson of Victor. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Ralph in 1977, a brother Bobby Clark, a sister Ruth Hinckel, a great-grandson, Riley Stratton Wagner, and a son-in-law, John McCune.

Virginia Ileana Clark was born October 11, 1926 in Oskaloosa, Iowa, the daughter of Edward and Wilma Draper Clark. She graduated from Oskaloosa High School in 1944 and married Ralph Benscoter on October 20, 1945 in Oskaloosa. Virginia was a mother and homemaker. Due to ill health, Virginia made her home at care facilities for the last several years.
