Edward A. Blinkinsop, age 90, died Thursday evening, April 6, 2006 at Rose Haven Nursing Home, Marengo following an extended illness. Memorial Services: 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, April 11, 2006 at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo with Rev. Morris Hurd officiating. Inurnment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Belle Plaine. Friends may call on Tuesday from 10:00 A.M. until service time at the funeral home. Memorials may be contributed to HACAP or Amenity Hospice.

Survivors include two sons, George and wife Kathy Turner of Osprey, FL, and Gary and wife Paula of Davenport; three grandchildren, Stephen and Matt Blinkinsop of Marengo and Eric and wife Lindsay of St. Louis; and a great-grandchild, Zoe Blinkinsop of Formsby, England. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Gayle, a sister Vesta Bebb, a brother, Orlyn, and a grandson, Lyle Edward.

Edward Arthur Blinkinsop was born February 22, 1916 in Belle Plaine, Iowa, the son of Arthur and Iona McClennen Blinkinsop. He graduated from Belle Plaine High School and served in the U.S. Navy for 2 years stationed in San Diego, CA. Edward married Gayle Peterman on October 10, 1936 in Belle Plaine. The couple moved to Marengo on April 1, 1946 and purchased a shoe store. They operated Blinkinsop Shoe Store for over 40 years. Edward was a member of the First United Methodist Church, a 50-year member of the Marengo American Legion Post #76, and a member of the Masonic Lodge and Shriners.
