Clark Robert Blythe, age 103 of Williamsburg, died Wednesday, September 30, 2009 at Mercy Hospital, Iowa City following a brief illness. Funeral Services: 1:30 P.M. Sunday, October 4, 2009, First Presbyterian Church, Williamsburg with Rev. Kip Murphy officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Williamsburg. Friends may call from 4 to 7 P.M. Saturday, October 3, 2009 at the church. Memorials may be contributed to the First Presbyterian Church, the Williamsburg Public Library or the charity of the donor’s choice. Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo is in charge of arrangements.
He is survived by his children, Stuart Blythe (Beverly) of Williamsburg, Nancy Rasey of Oswego, IL, Daryl Blythe (Donna) of Williamsburg, and Julia Leupold (Bill) of Spirit Lake; eleven grandchildren, David Blythe (Judy) of Shakopee, MN, Sandra Dellamuth (Mike), and Linda Trimpe (Dean) of Williamsburg, Andrew Rasey of Houston TX, Peter Rasey of Chicago, IL, Dr. Jeffery Blythe (Darcy) of Orange City, Curt Blythe (Mary), Matt Blythe (Robin), Stacey Cremeens (Aron) of Williamsburg, Dr. John Leupold(Erika) of Spirit Lake, and Jerod Leupold (Gigi) of Iowa City; 24 great grandchildren, Angela Blythe, Ryan and Brooke Van Meter, Brianna and Seth Dellamuth, Jamie, Amber and Tonya Trimpe, Paige, Nolan, and Clayton Blythe, Trenton (Molly) Holden, Austin and Corbin Blythe, Garrett and Gage Blythe, Dillon Blythe, Tyler, Cole, and Carlee Cremeens, Anthea and Addilin Leupold. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Roberta, his siblings, George, Adelaide, Samuel, and Everett, a son-in-law James Rasey and a great granddaughter, Abby Trimpe.
Clark Robert Blythe was born February 6, 1906 in Troy Township, Iowa County, Iowa, the son of Samuel Robert Blythe and Margaret Gilmore Blythe. He received his education in the Williamsburg schools and graduated Williamsburg High School in 1924. He went on to graduate from Iowa State College in 1934 with a degree in Dairy Science. Clark married Roberta Nash on June 1, 1929 in Pilot Township, Iowa County, Iowa. He was a commercial dairy inspector in California for 14 years. He farmed for 15 years and worked for Shaull Tractor and Implement for 8 years. He enjoyed woodworking, refurbishing, and refinishing furniture. He also was an avid reader.
Clark was a man of integrity, ingenuity, and perseverance. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather and will be greatly missed. |
