Linda Ann Brecht, age 62 of Marengo, died Wednesday morning, September 30, 2009 at Colonial Manor of Amana following an extended illness.  Mass of Christian Burial: 10:30 A.M. Saturday, October 3, 2009 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Marengo with Fr. Joseph Roost officiating.  Burial will be in the Koszta Cemetery, rural Marengo. Friends may call from 6 to 8 P.M. Friday, October 2, 2009 at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo where there will be a Rosary recited at 8:00 P.M. A memorial fund has been established.

She is survived by three brothers, Robert (Claire) of Gilbert, Randy (Lori) of Middle Amana, and Ron (Leanne) of Marengo; two sisters, Diane Uthoff (Dale) of Cedar Rapids, and Lori Smith (David) of West Des Moines; nieces and nephews, Robert J. Brecht of Council Bluffs, Brad Brecht of Ames, Amanda Brecht of Middle, Brittany Brecht (Eric) of Marengo, Monica Brecht of Jewell, Brice Brecht of Marengo, Dale Uthoff Jr. (Patricia) of West Des Moines, Erika Uthoff-Schmuecker of Cedar Rapids, Jenna Rokes (Matthew) of Davenport, Valerie Uthoff of Cedar Rapids, Jarrod Uthoff of Cedar Rapids, Rosalind Smith of Iowa City, Colton Smith of West Des Moines, and Rachele Watson (John) of Williamsburg. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother LeRoy Brecht, Jr.

Linda Ann Brecht was born August 9, 1947 in Belle Plaine, Iowa, the daughter of LeRoy and Darlene Schluter Brecht. She graduated in 1968 with a diploma from Williamsburg. Linda was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Marengo. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, games and puzzles. She enjoyed picnics, parades and going to movies. Linda cherished her friends, and loved poodles, especially Brandi her beloved pet. She had resided at Colonial Manor of Amana for the last two years, due to failing health.
