James Calderwood, age 66 of Brooklyn, died Sunday morning, August 2, 2009 at Brooklyn Community Estates following a brief illness. Per his wishes, there will be no services. Kloster Funeral Home, Brooklyn is in charge of arrangements.
He is survived by a nephew Erick Calderwood, two nieces, Kim Irlbeck and Laura Calderwood, and a sister-in-law, Judy Calderwood all of Brooklyn. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Charles and a brother in infancy.
James was born December 14, 1942 in Grinnell, Iowa, the son of Andrew and Helen McKeag Calderwood. He graduated from BGM High school and served in the U.S. Navy for four years. He worked for 37 years at Maytag in Newton and also farmed for many years. He retired in 2001. James enjoyed fishing and hunting. He loved to watch the Iowa Hawkeye football games, and take leisurely rides in the country. |
