Mary E. Cronbaugh, age 61 of Marengo, died Tuesday, July 2, 2013 at her home, after surviving 8 years with cancer. Funeral Service: 10:30 A.M. Monday, July 8, 2013, Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo, Iowa with Chaplain Mike Patterson officiating. Burial will be in Koszta Cemetery, rural Marengo. Visitation: 4 to 7 P.M. Sunday, July 7, 2013 at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established.
Mary is survived by her husband Marlo; three daughters, Mariah Andrews (Christian) of Mount Vernon, Fran Rathjen (Kyle) of Kansas City, MO, and Virginia Smith (Adam) of Grinnell; seven grandchildren, Sophia, Gus, Payton, Logan, Makayla, Dylan, and Holden; a brother John Leeper (Jackie Meyer) of Blairstown; five step-children, Tim Cronbaugh, Donnie (Missie) Cronbaugh, Darrell Cronbaugh (Joanne) all of Marengo, Deanne Cronbaugh of North Liberty, and Samantha Elliot (Bill) of North Liberty; step-grandchildren, Traci, Teri, Tiffany, Sofia, Alex, Gabby, Jessica, Jackie, and Dustie Cronbaugh; and step great-grandchildren, Tanner, Delilah, Briella, DeShaun, Cloe, Isaac, Logan, Kylie, and Rowan.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Michael, and a sister Anne in infancy.
Mary Elizabeth Leeper was born September 1, 1951 in Kirksville, MO, the daughter of Denver and Elizabeth McCollum Leeper. She graduated from Williamsburg High School in 1969, and attended Truman State College in Kirksville. She received her Licensed Practical Nursing degree from Kirkwood College in Cedar Rapids. Mary was united in marriage to Marlo Cronbaugh on February 14, 1998 in Marengo, Iowa. She enjoyed cooking, knitting and crocheting, and was an accomplished seamstress.
In earlier years, Mary worked as a waitress. She spent several years working at Casey’s, and when she received her nursing degree, was employed at Rose Haven Nursing Home in Marengo.
