Samuel
"Sam" L. Curry, age 47, died Sunday, August
23, 2009 at the Marengo Memorial Hospital, Marengo, Iowa
following a sudden illness. Funeral Services will be held
at 10:00 A.M. Thursday, August 27, 2009, at the United
Methodist Church, Oxford, Iowa with Rev. Diane Townsley
officiating. Burial will be in East York Cemetery, rural
Williamsburg, Iowa. Visitation will be held from 3 to
8 P.M. on Wednesday, August 26, 2009 at the church. A
memorial fund has been established. Kloster Funeral Home,
Marengo, Iowa is in charge of arrangements.
He
is survived by his wife Janelle; two daughters Rebecka,
Becky, and Rachel both of Homestead, Iowa; his mother
Marilyn of Williamsburg, Iowa; a brother Steven of Iowa
City, Iowa; and two sisters Sherrie Brenneman (Jamey)
of Oxford, Iowa and Vickie Simon (John) of Truman, Arkansas.
Also surviving are his grandmother Vera Brockshus of Williamsburg,
Iowa and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death
by his father David Curry in 2003, his paternal grandparents,
and maternal grandfather Arnold Brockshus.
Samuel
Lee Curry was born November 7, 1961, in Iowa City, Iowa
the son of David and Marilyn E. Brockshus Curry. He graduated
from Williamsburg High School in 1980. He married Janelle
Bischof on March 26, 1983 at Trinity United Church of
Christ in rural Marengo, Iowa. Sam was employed as a truck
driver for the Iowa County Secondary Road Department.
Sam was a member of the Teamster’s Union Local 238
and the United Methodist Church in Oxford, Iowa. He enjoyed
spending time outdoors, hunting, fishing, mushroom hunting,
and pitching horse shoes with friends. Sam was known as
a kind-hearted person that was always there for his friends
and was always willing to lend a hand. |
