Margaret A. Denzler, age 87 of Marengo, died Saturday morning, February 7, 2009 at Rose Haven Nursing Home, Marengo following an extended illness. Funeral Services: 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, February 11, 2009 at the First United Methodist Church, Marengo with Rev. Katie Dawson officiating. Burial will be in the Marengo Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 7 P.M. Tuesday, February 10, 2009 at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo. Memorials may be contributed to the First United Methodist Church or the Christian Crusaders.

Margaret is survived by two sons, Jeffrey “Jerry” Denzler and wife Carole of Marengo, and Stephen and wife Judy of Phoenix, AZ; a daughter, Marilyn Koch of Ames; six grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Also surviving is a brother Richard Reece of Phoenix. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Roy in 2008, and a sister Norma Reece in 1997.

Margaret A. Reece was born May 28, 1921 in Des Moines, Iowa, the daughter of Ralph and Jennie Newby Reece. She graduated from Marengo High School in 1939 and went to work at Collins Radio as a secretary. Margaret married Roy Denzler, Jr. on March 12, 1941 at Trinity Episcopal Church in Iowa City. She was employed at Amana Refrigeration as a secretary to the president, George Foerstner for 31 years. Following her retirement she worked part time as Mr. Foerstner’s personal secretary. Margaret was a member of First United Methodist Church in Marengo and PEO Chapter AU.
