Lloyd E. Edler, age 92 of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Monday, February 24, 2014 at Heritage Nursing and Rehab Center in Cedar Rapids. Memorial Service: 11:00 A.M. Friday, February 28, 2014, Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo with Pastor Dan Sanford officiating. The family will receive friends from 9-11 A.M. on Friday at the funeral home. Military Honors will be conducted by the Iowa National Honors Guard. Inurnment will be at a later date in Oakdale Cemetery, Davenport. 

He is survived by a son James of Pensacola, FL; a daughter Kim of Cedar Rapids; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Mildred in 1995, a daughter Doris in infancy, and a son Richard.

Lloyd Earl Edler was born March 6, 1921 in Fairfield, Iowa, the son of Peter and Nellie Edler.  He attended the Fairfield area schools and served in the U.S. Army from 1942 - 1946. Lloyd married Mildred Berniece Forgie on December 27, 1941 in Kahoka, MO. The couple resided in the Amana area for several years. He was employed as a carpenter in the construction trade. Due to failing health, Lloyd had lived at Heritage Nursing and Rehab Center in Cedar Rapids for the last several years.
