Carl Fred Ehrle, age 85 of Cedar Rapids, formerly of Amana, died Monday, January 17, 2005 at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids following an extended illness. Private funeral services will be held at a later date. Public visitation: 4 to 7 P.M. Tuesday, January 18, 2005 at Middle Amana Community Church, Middle Amana. A memorial fund has been established. Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo is in charge of arrangements.

He is survived by his wife, Lucille of Cedar Rapids; four sons, Henry William (Isabelle) and Ronald (Marilyn) of Cedar Rapids, Steven (Shirley) of Marion, and Gary (Christy) of Belle Plaine; a daughter, Nancy VonAhsen (Larry) of Cedar Rapids; ten grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; and a sister, Wilma Novy of Cedar Rapids. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Henry.


Carl Fred Ehrle was born January 25, 1919 in Amana, the son of Peter George and Louise Goerler Ehrle. He received his education in the Amana schools. Carl married Lucille Puegner on October 13, 1938 in Marengo. He was employed at the Amana Woolen Mills for many years. Carl was a member of the Amana Community Church and he enjoyed traveling with his wife.
