Johanna E. Geiger, age 83, passed away on Thursday, March 24, 2011 at her home in West Amana, Iowa.  Funeral Services: 10:00 A.M. Monday, March 28, 2011, Middle Amana Community Church, in Middle Amana, with Elder Emilie Hoppe officiating.  Burial will be in the West Amana Cemetery. Visitation: 4 to 7 P.M. Sunday, March 27, 2011 at the Middle Amana Community Church. A memorial fund has been established. Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo is in charge of arrangements.

She is survived by her son, Willard (Judy) of Homestead and her daughter, Suzanne Beltz (Terry) of Amana; six grandchildren, Misty Martinez (Luis) of Amana, Nichole Beltz (Cainnon) of Amana, Jonathan Beltz (Angela) of Cedar Rapids, Travis Beltz of Amana, Holly Geiger of Homestead and Justin Geiger of North Liberty; four great-grandchildren, Riley Fox of Amana, Liam Beltz of Cedar Rapids, Jonah Beltz of Cedar Rapids, and Serina Martinez of Amana. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Marvin in 1981.

Johanna Ernstine Berger was born October 10, 1927 in South Amana, the daughter of Theodore and Susanna Wiswaesser Berger. She attended the South Amana school and graduated from the Amana High School in 1946. Johanna attended cosmetology school in Chicago and married Marvin Geiger on August 21, 1951 in Clark County, Nevada.  She was employed at many Amana area businesses, including the South Amana Sandwich Shop, Krauss Furniture, Amana Refrigeration, the Woolen Mill and the Ronneburg and Ox Yoke restaurants.  She also worked as a beautician.  She enjoyed gardening, crocheting and crafts of all sorts. She especially enjoyed her family and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
