| K. Lucille Slaymaker
Gilley, age 90 of Amana, formerly of Williamsburg, died
peacefully in her sleep at her home at Lakeview Village
on Friday, December 31, 2004. Funeral Services:10:00 A.M.
Tuesday, January 4, 2005 at Trinity United Church of Christ,
rural Marengo with Rev. Jackie Tjarks officiating. Burial
will be in Pilot Grove Cemetery, rural Williamsburg. Friends
may call from 4 to 8 P.M. Monday, January 3, 2005 at St.
Mary’s Parish Hall in Williamsburg. Memorials may be contributed
to Trinity United Church of Christ. Kloster Funeral Home,
Marengo is in charge of arrangements.
She
is survived by two sons, Tom Slaymaker and wife Maralyn
of Williamsburg, and Dick Slaymaker and wife Colleen of
Deep River; a daughter, Nancy Roberts and husband Robert
of Williamsburg; two stepsons, Curt and Steve Gilley; nine
grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren; four great-great
grandchildren and a sister Neva Cook and husband Ken of
Cedar Rapids. She was preceded in death by her parents,
her husbands, Arnold Slaymaker, and Dick Gilley, a grandson,
Jay Slaymaker, and great-grandson, Jordan Slaymaker, two
sisters, Iva Davis and Maxine Fitkin, and a brother, Don
Thomas.
Kathryn Lucille Thomas was born June 19, 1914 in rural
Williamsburg, the daughter of Albert and Kathryn Meier Thomas.
She received her education in the Iowa County schools and
attended Williamsburg High School. Lucille married Arnold
Slaymaker on September 24, 1934 at her parents’ home. He
died May 23, 1966. She married Dick Gilley on November 22,
1967 in Williamsburg. He died March 17, 1996.
Lucille
was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ, rural Marengo,
and the RSVP Club. She enjoyed bowling, gardening, quilting,
her family and church activities and following Iowa Sports. |
