Dorothy J. Graesser, age 74 of Middle Amana, died Tuesday, July 19, 2005 at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics following a brief illness. Funeral Services: 10:00 A.M. Friday, July 22, 2005, Middle Amana Community Church, Middle Amana with Elder Elly Schrodt officiating. Burial will be in the Middle Amana Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 P.M. Thursday evening, July 21, 2005 at the Middle Amana Church. A memorial fund has been established. Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo is in charge of arrangements.

She is survived by a son, Joel Graesser (fiancee’ Hazel Res) of Middle Amana; two daughters, Nancy Graesser of Oxford and Colleen (Kenneth) Langreck of Marengo; six grandchildren, Dustin (Kathy) Langreck of Blairstown, Shannon, Brooke and Brandi Langreck of Marengo, and Jessica and Megan Graesser of Middle Amana; three brothers, Clifford (Caroline) Trumpold, and Richard (Marilyn) Trumpold of Middle, and Henry (Janice) Trumpold of Marengo. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Carl on March 23, 2005, and a brother John and his wife Doris.

Dorothy J. Trumpold was born May 1, 1931 in Middle Amana, the daughter of Rudolph and Maria Buerkin Trumpold. She received her education in the Amana schools and married Carl E. Graesser on February 24, 1951 at Lowry Air Force Base in Denver, CO. Besides being a homemaker, Dorothy caned chairs for the Amana Furniture Store, worked with fabric at the Amana Woolen Mill and was a housekeeper, greeter, and breakfast server at Dusk to Dawn Bed and Breakfast. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, gardening, and working word puzzles. She was a member of the Amana Church Society.
