| Catherine I. “Pat” Greenlee, age 93 of Belle Plaine, died Thursday, January 29, 2009 at the Belle Plaine Nursing and Rehab Center following an extended illness. Per her wishes, her body was donated to medical science. Graveside services will be held at a later date in Applington, Iowa. Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo is in charge of arrangements.
She is survived by three step-children and 5 step-grandchildren and several step-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews and their families. Catherine was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and ten siblings.
Catherine I. “Pat” Folkers was born January 22, 1916 in Applington, Iowa, the daughter of Frederick and Gertie DeVries Folkers. She received her education in the Applinton schools and graduated from Applington High School in 1930. Catherine was united in marriage to Clayton Greenlee on July 21, 1951. She was employed at Sheller Globe in Iowa City for 20 years. Pat also did painting and wallpapering in the the Belle Plaine area and also was a waitress. She loved to fish and play bingo. She was a basketball player in high school and loved to reminisce about winning 9 “best of the state” team championships. She was a member of the German Reform Church in Applington, Iowa. She moved to the Belle Plaine Nursing and Rehab Center in October of 2007 after a falling injury and consequent surgery. |
