Geraldine T. Hanson, age 95, died Thursday, September 4, 2008 at Highland Ridge Care Center in Williamsburg, following an extended illness. Mass of Christian Burial: 10:00 A.M. Monday, September 8, 2008, St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Williamsburg with Fr. Joseph Roost officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Williamsburg. Friends may call from 5 to 7 P.M. Sunday, September 7, 2008 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church where there will be a Scripture service at 5 P.M. A memorial fund has been established. Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo is in charge of arrangements.

Survivors include two sons, Michael and wife Sherry of Butte, MT and Stephen and wife Loretta of Williamsburg; six grandchildren Dana Hanson Monroe (Monte) of Darby, MT, Barbara Hanson Romerio (Chuck) of Whitehall, MT, John Michael Hanson of San Diego, CA, Conn Hanson of New York City, Morgan Hanson (Angela) of Pittsburg, PA and Hanorah Hanson Curry (Aaron) of Washington, D.C. and six great-grandchildren, Marisa, Nolan and Kyle Romerio, Logan Monroe and Thomas and James Hanson: a brother Jack Griffin of Cedar Rapids and a brother-in-law, Bernard Hanson, New Haven, CT. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Robert L. Hanson, a daughter, Nancy Hanson Prentice, two brothers, James and Francis Griffin, and a sister Mary May.

Geraldine Theresa Griffin was born August 21, 1913 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of John and Anna Molumby Griffin. She graduated from Immaculate Conception High School in Cedar Rapids in 1931. She was employed as a bookkeeper for Witwer Grocery Company. Geraldine married Robert L Hanson on September 2, 1937 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Cedar Rapids. The couple settled in Williamsburg, Iowa. Geraldine enjoyed knitting and crocheting for her children and grandchildren. She collected antiques and spent many joyful hours caring for her flowerbeds.
