John William Harney, age 65 of Medford, OR, died Tuesday, October 25, 2005 at the Ashland Community Hospital, in Ashland, OR. Mass of Christian Burial: 10:00 A.M. Saturday, November 5, 2005, St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Parnell with Fr. Pat Lumsden officiating. Inurnment will be in St. Michael’s Cemetery, Holbrook with military honors. Friends may call from 4 to 8 P.M. Friday, November 4, 2005 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Parnell with a Scripture Service at 7 P.M. A memorial fund has been established. Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo is in charge of arrangements.

He is survived by four sisters, Marjory Weldon and husband Harold of Parnell, Mary Quinlan of Oxford, Jane Olson and husband Keith of Brooklyn Park, MN, and Elizabeth Harney of New York; a sister-in-law, Ann Harney of Coralville and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, James Harney, brother-in-law, Jerry Quinlan, and his dear and special friend, Joan Robbins.

John is also survived by Joan’s children, Chris Robbins and family, Janet and Tim Robbins-Turk and family, Lynn and John Nilsen and family and close friend and neighbor, Charles Bloomingcamp.

John William Harney was born October 18, 1940 in Williamsburg, Iowa, the son of Anthony and Mary Ellen Ford Harney. He graduated from the Parnell High School in 1958. He served in the U.S. Army from 1966 to 1968, spending a year in Vietnam. John lived for a year in Alaska, and then moved to Oregon, where he owned and operated an auto repair business.
