| James F. Heinze, age 76 of Middle Amana, died Friday evening, July 22, 2005 at his home following an extended illness. Funeral Services: 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, July 26, 2005 at Middle Amana Community Church in Middle Amana, with Elder Ivan Reihmann officiating. Burial will be in the Middle Amana Cemetery with military honors. Friends may call from 3 to 7 P.M. Monday, July 25, 2005 at the church. A memorial fund has been established. Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo is in charge of arrangements.
He is survived by his wife, Millie; two daughters, Carol Heinze-Ralston (Scott) of Urbandale, and Lisa Heinze of Des Moines; and three grandchildren, Lindsey, Caleb, Seth and Ralston. He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, Adolph, Carl, Ted and two in infancy, and two sisters, Viola Ratzel and Elise Baust.
James Fred Heinze was born September 6, 1928 in Middle Amana, the son of Henry and Marie Leichsenring Heinze. He graduated from Amana High School in 1947. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. James married Mildred Ann Vosdingh on September 3, 1955 at St. James United Methodist Church in Cedar Rapids. He was a tool and die maker for Amana Refrigeration for many years. In his retirement years he was a groundskeeper at the Amana Golf Course and worked part-time at the ARA cafeteria.
James was a member of the Amana Church, the American Legion Post #5, the Legion Committee for Hanford Post #5 Baseball, and a trustee of Calvary Baptist Church in Cedar Rapids. He enjoyed baseball, spending time with his grandchildren, mowing the lawn, and taking his wife on dates.
