Emelia Mae Heitman, age 92, died Sunday morning, January
30, 2005 at Rose Haven Nursing Home in Marengo following
an extended illness. Services: 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, February
2, 2005 at Trinity United Church of Christ, rural Marengo
with Rev. Lynne Bisson officiating. Burial will be in Genoa
Bluff Cemetery, rural Marengo. Friends may call from 3 to
8 P.M. Tuesday, February 1, 2005 at Kloster Funeral Home,
Marengo. Memorials may be contributed to Trinity United
Church of Christ.
She
is survived by her children, Joan Hunt of Blakesburg, Karen
Ramsey (David) of Amana, Zelda Sherman (Dick) of Ely, Phyllis
Bjork of Williamsburg, Alice White (Lee) of Ankeny and Wayne
Heitman of Marengo; 30 grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren
and 4 great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by
a daughter-in-law, Alice Heitman of Marengo and a sister-in-law
Grace Weisskopf of Marengo. She was preceded in death by
her parents, her husband, two sons, Raymond and John, a
daughter, Linda Roberts, two brothers, Lester and Daniel
Weisskopf, and two sisters, Vera Smith and Dorothy Richman.
Alma
Emelia Mae Weisskopf was born October 18, 1912, in Hartford
Township, rural Victor, the daughter of Daniel Ludwig and
Margaret Seibert Weisskopf. She received her education in
the Iowa County schools and married Ralph Heitman on June
22, 1932 in her family home. The couple farmed for many
years in the Genoa Bluff area. Ralph died on May 18, 1972.
Alma
was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ, rural Marengo,
and was a Sunday school teacher and youth leader for many
years. She enjoyed playing cards and was a member of Bridge
and Pepper clubs. She was a member of the Sunshine Circle
and Toppers.
