| Emmy Hergert, age 89, died Tuesday evening, November 15, 2005 at Colonial Manor Nursing Home in Middle Amana following an extended illness. Funeral Services: 11:00 A.M. Saturday, November 19, 2005 at Middle Amana Community Church, Middle Amana with Elder Jon Childers officiating. Burial will be in the Middle Amana Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 6 P.M. Friday, November 18, 2005 at the Middle Amana Community Church. Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo is in charge of arrangements.
She is survived by a son, Richard and wife Patricia of Dewitt; four grandchildren, Tom Hergert and wife Judi of Des Moines, Susan Hergert of Coralville, Karen Bertolino and husband Theron of Dewitt and Catherine Hentges and husband Bruce of St. Louis; eight great- grandchildren, and a great-great granddaughter. In addition she is survived by a sister, Cornelia Hess of Waterloo and a brother, Harold Reihmann and wife Shirley of Connersville, IN. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Gus on June 3, 2004.
Emma M. “Emmy” Reihmann was born June 9, 1916 in Middle Amana, the daughter of Jacob and Helen Jung Reihmann. She received her education in the Amana schools and married Gustav B. “Gus” Hergert on October 5, 1935. Besides being a homemaker, Emmy worked in the cafeteria at Amana Refrigeration for 20 years. She loved cooking for her family and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed handiwork such as cross-stitching, crocheting and needlepoint. Emmy was a member of the Amana Church Society.
