| Ida E. Glandorf Hirsbrunner, age 96, died Saturday morning, April 1, 2006 at the English Valley Care Center in North English following an extended illness. Celebration of Life Service: 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, April 4, 2006 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Williamsburg, with Rev. Carl Cloeter officiating. Burial: Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, rural Williamsburg. Friends may call from 5 to 8 P.M. Monday, April 3, 2006 at St. Paul Lutheran Fellowship Hall. Memorials may be contributed to St. Paul Lutheran Church, or Lutheran Interparish Schools in Williamsburg. Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo is in charge of arrangements.
She is survived by two daughters, Sharon Erwin of Williamsburg, and Carolyn Townsend and husband John of Wellman; five grandchildren, Renee Amantea, Tammy Sodergren, Chris Townsend, Jennifer Callahan and Andy Townsend; and seven great-grandchildren, Amber and Brandi Amantea, Briley and Corbin Sodergren, Andrew and Aaron Townsend and Gannon Callahan.
Ida was preceded in death by her husband Glenn in 2003, her mother in 1930, a son, Delbert in 1953, her father in 1972, two sisters, Pearl Haas in 1979, and Minnie Wardenburg in 1985, and a great-grandson Devin Amantea in 1996.
Ida Emma Glandorf was born January 19, 1910 on the family farm, east of Williamsburg, the daughter of John and Clara Newkirk Glandorf. She was baptized February 6, 1910 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, and attended Immanuel Lutheran School, rural Williamsburg. On May 25, 1923, she was confirmed at Immanuel’s by Rev. R. Uhlmann. Prior to her marriage she worked at the Rawleigh Spice Company in Freeport, IL. Ida married Glenn Hirsbrunner on August 18, 1946 in Freeport. The couple moved to the family farm east of Williamsburg, where she was always busy helping with the farm chores and gardening, until moving to Williamsburg in 1974. There she enjoyed quilting, baking, babysitting for her great-grandchildren and continued gardening and canning. In 2003, the couple moved to Silver Pond Assisted Living in Wellman. Following Glenn’s death on December 13, 2003, Ida moved to Parkview Manor in Wellman and then in 2005, she made her home at the English Valley Care Center in North English. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Williamsburg. |
